In the heart of the Roman Forum, amidst marble ruins and fractured gods, once stood a round temple that never slept. The Temple of Vesta, guardian of Rome’s eternal flame, burned with a light that symbolized the city’s spirit, its continuity, and its divine favor tended to 24/7 by, The Vestal Virgins, chosen from noble families (by the Pontifex Maximus (chief priest)), at age 6-10 for a period of 30 years service; tended Rome’s literal fire with absolute devotion—their purity was not only chaste or moral but energetic, a vow to devotion (beyond Rome, Vesta signifies a devotion to self, to one’s spiritual union with the divine, in service of the spirit) constancy, to the sacred work of keeping light alive amid chaos.
